Remove vocals — the honest, instant version

This is the classic center-cancel trick: it phase-flips one channel to knock out whatever sits dead-center — usually the lead vocal. It's instant, it's free, and on modern mixes it's rough. That's the point: hear what the trick can do, then hear what real separation does.

This is the trick, not the tech

Hear the difference real stem separation makes.

Center-cancel smears bass, kills stereo reverb, and fails on anything mixed off-center — that's physics, not a bug. SongStrip in the studio runs real AI separation: clean vocal and instrumental stems from any song. Sign up and run yours: 3 full packs free.

Frequently asked questions

How does the free vocal remover work?

It uses the center-channel cancel trick: the left and right channels are subtracted, which removes whatever is mixed identically in both — usually the lead vocal. A keep-the-bass option adds the low end back in, since kick and bass also live in the center.

Why does the result sound thin or echoey?

Because subtraction removes everything center-mixed, not just the vocal, and leaves everything stereo — including reverb tails around the vocal. That's the honest limit of this trick. Real AI stem separation, like SongStrip in the studio, learns what a voice is instead of where it sits.

Can I get a clean acapella with this?

Not with center-cancel — the mid-only listen gives you vocal plus centered drums and bass. For a clean, isolated vocal you need real source separation, which is exactly what the studio version does.

Is my song uploaded anywhere?
